How to upgrade the memory?

Solution

Caution:

• The following instructions should only be performed by an authorized and trained technician. Strictly adhere to the instructions to install a RAM module on the NAS.

• Before you start, please ensure that you turn off the NAS, disconnect the power adapter, network cable(s), and also remove any other device/cable that is attached to the NAS.

Introduction:

1. XN3000T Series are installed with a 4GB DDR3L memory module by default. If you want to expand the memory capacity, please follow the steps as below:

2. Shutdown your XCubeNAS and disconnect power adapter, network cable(s) or any other device/cable that is attached to your system to prevent any possible damages.

 

 


3. Use the key provided in the accessory box to press the door button and remove the service door.
① Align the notch on the gold edge of the module.
② Slide the memory module into the slot at a 45-degree angle. Press
     the memory module down until it clips into place. Ensure the
     memory module sits properly with the retention clips in place.

CAUTION:

3. Remove existing memory module(s)

 Push the retaining clips on each side of the slot, the existing memory module will pop out from the slot.
 Take out the memory module.

4. Installing the memory module
 Align the notch on the gold edge of the module.
 Slide the memory module into the slot at a 45-degree angle. Press
      the memory module down until it clips into place. Ensure the memory module sits properly with the retention clips in place.

c. XN5000R, XN7000R, and XN8000R Series is with two 4GB DDR4 memory module by default. If you want to install, check, or remove a memory module on your XCubeNAS, please follow the steps as illustrated bellow:

1. Shutdown your XCubeNAS and disconnect power adapter, network cable(s) or any other device/cable that is attached to your system to prevent any possible damages.

2. Remove the rear top cover.
① Loosen the screw on the back of the XCubeNAS.
② Pull the rear top cover, and put it aside.
 

 



CAUTION:
When you remove the rear top cover, the sensitive internal components are exposed. Please avoid touching anything other than the memory module when you add or remove a memory module.

3. Insert a new memory module into the slot
① Push the retaining clips on the slot out to the sides.
② Align the notch on the gold edge of the module with the notch in the  
      memory slot.
③ Push down on the memory module with firm and even pressure. The   
      retaining clips will snap into position as the module is correctly inserted.
 

4. Put back the rear top cover you lifted in step 2.

• Align the pin at the side of the rear top cover with the slots on the chassis’ edge, and push the rear top cover back in position.
 

 

 

• Put back and fasten the screw on the back of the XCubeNAS.


5. Remove memory module.

• Follow step 1 and 2 above to shut down your XCubeNAS, and disconnect the cables, and then remove the rear top cover.

• Disengage the memory retaining clips by pushing them outwards, and the module will pop out of the slot.

TIP:
In order to achieve dual-channel RAM performance, it is suggested that you install memory modules with the same capacity in pairs.
Pair 1: Slot #1 and Slot #3 
Pair 2: Slot #2 and Slot #4

Memory module support:
1 RAM: Supports one module inserted into any slot as single-channel memory configuration. 
2 RAMs: Supports two modules inserted into slot #1 and slot #3 or slot #2 and slot #4 as one pair of dual-channel memory configuration. 
4 RAMs: Supports four modules inserted into all the slots as two pairs of dual-channel memory configuration.
